This month’s release makes it easier to share specific parts of a page, brings uploaded files directly into the editor, and adds a full-screen view for media. We’ve also shipped fixes to make everyday editing more reliable.
Copy link to block
Sharing a general page link often forces readers to scroll and hunt for the right section. Now, every content block in Documate has a permanent ID.
Hover over any block, open the drag handle menu, and select “Copy link to block” to get a URL pointing directly to that specific section. When someone opens it, the page automatically scrolls to the block and briefly highlights it. This works for headings, paragraphs, callouts, tables, images, and embeds.
💡 Pro tip: Block links are great for cross-referencing. Drop one into a ServiceNow task description, a comment, or another Documate page to create a direct path to the right content.
Insert attachments directly into the editor
Displaying a file inline used to mean copying a URL and inserting it separately. Now, your page’s uploaded files appear directly in the command menu.
Type /attachments or the file name to find it instantly in the attachment section. Select a file to insert it. Images drop in as images, videos as players, and PDFs as embedded document viewers. The file is already there, ready to be placed without extra steps.
💡 Pro tip: Upload all the images and files you need via the attachment panel first, then use the command menu to place them throughout the page in one editing session.
Full-screen view for images and embeds
Dense Miro boards, Figma designs, and high-resolution images benefit from more room.
When you hover over any image or embedded content, a “Zoom in” button appears. Click it, and the content expands to fill the screen. Press Escape or click the close button in the top-right corner to return.
💡 Pro tip: Full-screen mode is particularly useful for embedded spreadsheets and diagrams. Open one in a meeting to make it readable for everyone without leaving Documate.
A few more improvements
✍️ Bold + italic text: applying both formats at once now renders correctly. Previously, italic was invisible when combined with bold.
🖼️ Miro live embeds: Miro board URLs in live-embed format are now correctly recognised and embedded.
🧑💻 Inline code styling: inline code now has a distinct warm-grey background and red text, with support for light and dark mode.
🔗 Link editing: the link editor is more stable — it closes correctly after undo, and focus is properly returned to the editor after dismissing it.
👁️ Read-only pages: users without edit permissions no longer see the toolbar, drag handles, or settings controls. The left panel shows a read-only indicator.
We want your feedback!
Block links and inline attachments change how you build content in Documate. We’d love to know how you’re using them, or if there are other areas where direct linking would help your workflow. Get in touch and let us know.
