Documate October 2026: Notifications inbox, Mermaid diagrams & Page embeds

This release is for teams that write technical documentation together.

Keep up with your team with the new notifications inbox: mentions, replies and invitations, all in one place. Document your scripts and processes with code blocks that set their language when you paste and can draw Mermaid diagrams. And when you need the same content on several pages, embed one Documate page inside another.

Notifications inbox

Click your avatar to open your notifications. You see when someone mentions you, replies to your comments, resolves or re-opens them, or adds you to a workspace.

Comment notifications show a preview of the text, so you can catch up without opening every page. Click one to go straight to that comment or mention. When you are done, mark them all as read or clear the list.

💡 Pro tip: Readers can reply to open comments, so your reviewers can answer without edit rights.

Code blocks and Mermaid diagrams

Paste code on a page and you get a code block with the language already set. To change it, open the block menu and search the list.

In the same menu you can turn line wrapping and line numbers on or off for each block.

Code blocks can also draw diagrams. Type /Mermaid and write your diagram as text. It updates as you type. Double-click the diagram to see it full screen, or download it as PNG or SVG.

💡 Pro tip: Use “Show” in the block menu to display only the diagram, only the code, or the two together.

A page inside another page

Read another page without leaving the one you are on. Keep content like an escalation procedure or a contact list on one page and embed it wherever you need it.

Type /Existing page and choose one. It appears with its cover, title, subpages and content, and a header with a link to the original. You can resize it or expand it to full size.

Embeds are read-only. Edit the original page and the embeds show the change the next time they load.

💡 Pro tip: Any link to a Documate page can become an embed. Open its menu, choose “Display as” and pick “Embed”.

A few more improvements

✏️ Page tools: Rename pages in the page tree, create them from the / menu, and copy a page’s content from the page menu.

💾 Speed and saving: New pages open instantly. Your latest edits are saved even if you close the tab right away.

🔗 Section links: They keep working when you move the page within its workspace.

💬 Comment quotes: Comments stay attached to the text you selected. If that text is deleted, the quote is crossed out.

🏷️ Placeholders: An empty heading, quote or list shows its type until you start writing, so you always know what kind of block you are in.
