This release completes the work on links we started in August and puts live ServiceNow data at the centre: one panel for every link, and a quick search option to add ServiceNow records and lists inline.
Live data means the page shows the record or the list as it is right now, so a runbook, a handover or a status page keeps itself current without anyone updating values by hand.
One panel for every link
Select some text and click “Add link”, or click inside an existing link to edit it. One panel covers every target: a web address, a page from any workspace, a file, an Unsplash image, an attachment, and even a ServiceNow record or list.
The same panel repoints an existing link, card or embed without changing its look, and “Unlink” removes the link while keeping the words.
💡 Pro tip: Cmd/Ctrl+K does the same as the “Add link” button. Press it on selected text to create a link, without leaving the keyboard.
Find ServiceNow records without leaving the page
Open the link panel, switch to the ServiceNow tab and pick a table. Type a few characters and the matching records appear, with your text highlighted, so an incident number, a user or a knowledge article is a couple of keystrokes away. Pick one and it goes onto the page as a chip; hover over it to see the record’s key fields.
💡 Pro tip: Already have the record open in ServiceNow? Copy its URL from the address bar and paste it on the page to insert it without searching.
Put a filtered ServiceNow list on the page
Sometimes one record is not enough: you want the live list. Pick the table, switch to the list option, add a filter, and the list is placed on the page. Show it as a link, as a table or as the full embedded list, and change your mind whenever you like.
💡 Pro tip: The filter takes the same encoded queries you already use in ServiceNow. Copy one from a list you have on screen and paste it in.
A few more improvements
📄 New page from a mention: Type @ and choose “New page”. The page is created and linked in place, so you can keep writing and fill it in later.
🖨️ Printing: Print a page and you get the content alone, without the navigation and panels around it, and images and embeds paginate cleanly.
↩️ Undo: You can revert a workspace deletion or restore, or a page move, straight from the notification that appears.
💬 Comment links: Copy a link to any comment. Whoever opens it lands on the commented text with the thread in view.
🌳 Page tree: “Expand all” and “Collapse all” sit in the page menu, and the tree remembers which branches you had open in each workspace.
🏷️ Tab icons: The browser tab shows the page icon, or the workspace icon, so Documate tabs are easy to tell apart.
What’s next?
We are working on improving collaboration: mentions, workspace invitations and comment replies in one inbox, each with a preview of what was said, so you can catch up without opening every page. Code blocks are getting better too, and there is plenty more in the pipeline.
