June is all about page covers. Choose a photo from Unsplash, upload an image of your own, or pick a colour or gradient, and any page opens exactly the way you want.
Everything happens in the new cover selector: search built in, paste-a-link support, and repositioning controls to finish the job.
Page covers, your way
A cover gives a page a face, and picking one takes seconds.
Open the cover selector at the top of any page and pick a photo from the built-in Unsplash search. Millions of free, high-quality images, searchable without leaving Documate.
You do not even need to know what you are looking for. The selector opens with suggestions matched to your page title, so a page called ‘Remote work policy’ greets you with fitting photos before you type anything.
π‘ Pro tip: start with your workspace landing pages. A strong cover on the entry page sets the tone for everything underneath it.
Use your own images
Stock photos are handy, but often the right image already exists: a product banner, a team photo, the diagram your department uses everywhere.
Upload any image as a cover, or paste a link to one that is already online. Links to images stored in your ServiceNow instance work too, Documate resolves them and displays the image straight away.
Once the image is up, drag it to reposition it, so the part that matters stays in view.
π‘ Pro tip: got a banner attached to a ServiceNow record? Copy its link and paste it into the cover selector. No downloading and re-uploading needed.
Colours and gradients
A photo is not always the right call. Some pages want something quieter, and some teams would rather keep every page consistent.
The palette offers solid colours and gradients, with soft transitions that look considered rather than loud.
Colours also work as a wayfinding system. Give how-to guides one shade and release documentation another, and readers know where they are before reading a word.
π‘ Pro tip: agree a colour per content type with your team and the cover becomes a signpost, not just decoration.
A few more improvements
π Tables: wide ServiceNow tables now scroll inside the page, so full-width layouts stay tidy however many columns you show.
π ServiceNow links: paste a record link straight from the address bar and the embed suggestion appears right away.
βοΈ Records: columns showing data from related tables (dot-walked fields) now carry a small arrow in the header, so you can tell them from local fields.
π Emoji search: type in the emoji picker and find the right workspace icon in seconds.
π Code blocks: copy a code block and exactly its content lands on the clipboard, ready to paste anywhere.
β Checklists: ticks now sit neatly centred in checklist boxes.
π Outline: the outline placeholder on new pages now includes a hide option, so you can switch it off right where you see it.
What’s next?
July is shaping up nicely. We are giving everything attached to your pages a much better home, and your pasted screenshots some proper care. More on that soon.
