We start the summer with three new features that will transform how you create and navigate your documentation: a sleek dark mode for comfortable writing, automatic table of contents generation, and several list options for better organisation.
Dark mode for comfortable writing
Bright interfaces can cause eye strain, especially during evening work sessions.
Switch between light and dark themes instantly using the new mode selector and enjoy a carefully designed dark theme that reduces glare whilst maintaining excellent readability.
The theme selector remembers your preference, so you won’t need to switch modes every time you log in.
💡 Pro tip: Choose “System” mode to automatically match your device’s appearance settings so that Documate will switch themes based on your operating system preferences.
Automatic table of contents generation
Large documents can be overwhelming to navigate, both for writers and readers.
Our new automatic table of contents saves you from manually creating and maintaining navigation lists.
Simply structure your document with clear headings, and Documate will automatically generate a clickable navigation guide that updates in real time, helping readers jump directly to the content they need.
💡 Pro tip: Use consistent heading levels throughout your document to create the most useful table of contents structure.
Lists for better organisation
Documentation often requires different types of lists to organise information effectively.
This month, we’ve enhanced the editor capabilities by adding three list blocks: interactive checklists for task tracking, numbered lists for step-by-step procedures, and bullet points for general information grouping.
💡 Pro tip: Turn any existing bullet list into an interactive checklist by simply changing the list type – perfect for converting guides into actionable workflows.
A few more improvements
📄 Page menu: Each page now has its own contextual menu with relevant actions and options.
〰️ Line separator: Add visual breaks in your content with horizontal dividers.
🔄 Synchronisation fixes: Resolved page navigation issues that occasionally caused content sync problems.
⌨️ List behaviour: Fixed the enter key behaviour in lists to prevent unwanted extra items.
What’s next?
We’re already working on more options to help you keep your content easily organised.
