Welcome to our first update of 2024! January brings two major improvements that eliminate manual work from your documentation process. You can now reference other pages in your workspace with page mentions and create live references to ServiceNow data that automatically stay current.
No more copying and pasting information that quickly becomes outdated. No more stale data. No more broken links between your documentation and source systems.
These changes, along with visual improvements and reliability fixes, help you maintain accurate documentation with minimal effort.
Add page references faster
Simply type @ anywhere in your document and choose from a searchable menu of all pages in your workspace. Whether you’re referencing related procedures, linking to supporting documentation, or creating cross-references, everything is now just a few keystrokes away.
When you hover over any page link, you’ll see a helpful preview card showing the page title and content snippet. This lets you verify you’re linking to the right content without having to navigate away from your current work.
💡 Pro tip: Use page mentions to build a web of connected documentation that helps your team discover related content naturally.
Live ServiceNow references
Type /servicenow, select “Embed ServiceNow content”, and paste any ServiceNow URL of a record. Instead of copying static data that quickly becomes outdated, Documate creates a live reference that automatically reflects changes in your ServiceNow instance.
When you hover over any ServiceNow reference, you’ll see an up-to-date preview with the latest information and key details from the record. Your documentation stays accurate without any manual updates, making it a reliable source of truth for your team.
💡 Pro tip: Use live ServiceNow references in your runbooks and procedures to ensure teams always see the current state of incidents, changes, and requests.
A few more improvements
